About The Nightingale Foundation

Founded in 2022, the foundation was created by the executives of Nightingale College. Mikhail Shneyder, Jonathan Tanner and Thomas Reams came together and formed the foundation after over 3 decades of combined experience of solving the nursing shortages and increasing access to nursing education to underserved populations.

The objectives of the Nightingale Foundation serve as mission fulfilment measures for the overall mission and vision impact of the foundation.

The objectives of Nightingale Foundation are to:

  • Serve current and prospective nursing students by offering scholarships and alternative funding options to finance attendance in pre- and post-licensure academic programs.
  • Build a diverse nursing workforce by removing financial barriers for equitable access to nursing education, especially for non-traditional students in underserved and underrepresented communities.
  • Assist in identifying, developing, and increasing access to postgraduate nursing education resources.

Our Mission

The mission is to provide Nightingale College’s nursing students with resources needed for attending and completing their academic programs.

Our Vision

The vision is to improve the nation’s health outcomes, health equity, and eliminate the nursing shortage by increasing access to pre- and post-licensure nursing education through providing resources for traditionally underserved and underrepresented student populations.

Our Story

How We Got Started

The founders of Nightingale College have a long standing belief that with the right resources and a focus on underserved and underrepresented populations the time has come to bring relief to the nursing shortages in the United States. Since 2011, Nightingale College founders have been increasing access to nursing education and developing several distance nursing education programs that can serve rural communities that feel the greatest affects of the nursing shortage.

Where We Are Now

The foundation is in its first year of operations. The staff and volunteers are excited to bring together donors and healthcare organizations that will begin the resource funds.

Why provide resources exclusively to Nightingale College students?

Nightingale College has been selected because their programs are uniquely designed to serve the demographics that will make the greatest impact in solving the nursing shortage. For over a decade, Nightingale College has been expanding enrollment to underserved and underrepresented populations and currently has students in over 40 states. No other prelicensure program in the U.S. has accomplished as much and maintained proper admission policies, accessible wraparound student services, and high-quality education that is required by these populations.
