Nightingale Foundation Focuses on Giving Tuesday – A Global Day of Giving – to Support Current and Future Nurses
Giving Tuesday, the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, marks a day to unleash the power of generosity and reimagine a world built upon a shared humanity. Whether it is making someone smile, helping a neighbor or stranger, showing up for an issue or cause, or giving to those in need, every act counts, and everyone has something they can provide.
On this Giving Tuesday (Dec. 3), the Nightingale Foundation is proud to join millions around the world in the spirit of generosity. Our goal is to provide learners at Nightingale College with the financial resources they need to complete their academic programs and enter the workforce through scholarships and emergency support funds. Nightingale Foundation is working to improve the nation’s health outcomes and health equity while helping to eliminate the nursing shortage.
Nightingale Foundation consistently works to contribute to our nation’s health outcomes by increasing access to pre- and post-licensure resources for underserved and underrepresented communities. Over the past several years, nursing has become taxing due to burnout, stress, and heavy workloads. According to these statistics gathered by the Foundation, 83% of nurses say that their mental health has suffered while working in hospitals, facilities, etc., and 80% of nurses say that their units and teams are understaffed. Although their profession has many challenges, the data gathered stated that 70% of nurses still think nursing is a great career.
As part of our commitment to supporting current and future nursing students, this year Nightingale Foundation launched the “Learner Disaster Relief Fund” to support those impacted by recent natural disasters. With this year’s hurricane season causing tremendous destruction across much of the southeastern United States, the Nightingale Foundation wanted learners who were facing significant challenges to have access to resources and basic needs. Despite facing adversity, learners want to continue their education and give back to their communities as future nurses. With the donations contributed to this fund, you are directly providing support services for Nightingale College learners affected by natural disasters. Impacted learners can apply for financial assistance through this fund throughout the year, continually, as funding allows. You can donate through the link here or share the link via social media to circulate the purpose of this fund.
When you give to the Nightingale Foundation, you are investing in the future healthcare workforce and making nursing education more accessible to underserved communities. Every donation strengthens the journey of a nursing student helping them to reach their goals, ultimately creating healthier and happier communities. As we celebrate Giving Tuesday, please consider supporting the Nightingale Foundation. Together, we can create a lasting impact one nurse at a time.
