Nightingale Foundation Receives $165,000 Grant to provide scholarships to Nursing Students
SALT LAKE CITY (March 18, 2024) — The Nightingale Foundation announced it has been awarded a $165,000 Utah Economic Assistance Grant (EAG) from the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity. This grant will help to address the state’s nursing workforce shortage by supporting the development and funding of the Utah Economic Nursing Scholarship Fund.
The EAG is designed to support Utah businesses and organizations that contribute to the state’s economic growth. Nightingale Foundation will use the funds to offer scholarships to juniors and seniors attending Nightingale College between summer 2024 and spring 2025, with a goal to award at least 15 scholarships to underserved and underrepresented student populations in the state of Utah.
“The Economic Assistance Grant represents a significant step forward in our efforts to strengthen the healthcare workforce in Utah,” said Katy Shoemaker, executive director of the Nightingale Foundation. “Our partnership with Nightingale College aims to prepare students from varied backgrounds for the nursing profession. The state’s support will help us provide scholarships, improve access to nursing education, and help to alleviate Utah’s nursing shortage.”
